There’s a buzz of excitement at the Lighthouse because our fall programs are in full swing! Here’s the scoop on what our students are up to:
After-School Program: Our After-School students have found a great rhythm of play, learning and exploration! The younger ones enjoy their weekly health and wellness segments taught by nursing students from Walsh University. Business Builders’ Club is ramping up for the older kids, which has featured guest appearances from local entrepreneurs and professionals. We continue to offer a wide variety of enrichment opportunities, including mindfulness, pottery and dance.
Youth Ministry Clubs: The first three Tuesdays of every month are Club Nights for our middle and high schoolers! We kick off the evening with a meal and games. We then pivot to tell our highs and lows of the week before diving into devotions and discussion time. Our prayer is that Club is a safe and welcoming place for youth in our neighborhood, as they explore who God made them to be.
Cultivate: The Cultivate program offers a deeper dive into enrichment opportunities. This fall’s offerings include Pottery & Saturday Strings. During the 5 week pottery session, students learn the basics of hand-building and wheel-work, with demonstrations and support from a local pottery instructor.
In partnership with the Canton Symphony Orchestra, Saturday Strings provides free, high-quality lessons and string instruments to students in SE Canton. This year the program is held at Patrick Elementary, which makes musical learning even more accessible for the students in our neighborhood. The program includes ensemble performances, where students can showcase their talent to family and friends!
