Summer Enrichment Camp
The Summer Enrichment Camp is a strategic effort by Lighthouse Ministries to eliminate the loss of learning experienced by many students in our neighborhood over the summer months. Students will find this summer camp to be jam-packed with hands-on learning experiences
Please note that as of May 5, our Summer Enrichment Camp is at capacity. Any new registrations will be placed on our waiting list. Our Summer Field Trip Program, which runs on Tuesdays and Fridays, is still accepting registrations. The registration for our summer camp and our field trip program our the same. Parents with children on the Camp waiting list will be contacted to see if they are interested in having their child participate in the field trip program.
You can learn more about the field trip program at cantonlighthouse.org/field-trips/
Schedule
The Summer Enrichment Camp is held Monday through Thursday each week for seven weeks, beginning June 15 and ending July 30. Your child can count on nutritious meals, exercise, art, bible lessons, and interactive educational experiences as part of the daily routine.
Field Trips – Each Monday will be a day of special activities on-site or field trips. Look for more information on this in May.
Absentee Policy – Any student missing more than four days of camp will be placed on probation and likely have their enrollment position replaced by a student on the waiting list. Consistency is crucial for your child’s success, and the large number of families seeking a spot for their child makes the commitment to attend camp even more critical.
Camp Curriculum
MEALS
Breakfast and lunch is provided each day. Breakfast is served promptly at 9 a.m. upon the students’ arrival.
EXERCISE
Every student participates in 20 to 30 minutes of exercise each day.
EDUCATION
No desks here! Students have their minds and their bodies engaged as they learn by doing.
ART
Working with clay, exploring dance and creating music for an hour a day will keep the students creative side engaged.
RECREATION
Each day, students have at least 30 minutes of time to play outside on the playground or in the gymnasium.
BIBLE
Our staff leads students through a re-telling of the greatest story in all of history!
Camp Staff
Your child will have some of the most caring and qualified staff working with your children. There will be, at least, one staff for every six students! We believe this will help the students remain focused on the tasks at hand and make for an excellent learning environment. The staff will work, learn and play with the students enrolled from the beginning of the school day until the end.
If you are interested in serving as a staff this summer please reach out to our director for more information.
Camp Luz
Children enrolled in the Summer Enrichment Camp are also registered for a week at Camp Luz. A Christian camp located just 30 minutes west of Canton. Girls attend Girls Camp and likewise the boys attend Boys Camp. Our male and female Lighthouse staff serve as staff at Camp Luz the week their students attend.

Registration Process
- Complete the general registration form online and submit a deposit of $20 per child
- Complete the Title 20 application to see if the state of Ohio will cover your child’s camp fees. The deposit is returned once the Title 20 application is submitted and the Lighthouse has received notification of acceptance or denial from ODJFS.
- The camp fee is $350 per child, which is removed if you qualify for Title 20 to cover fees. All parents who don’t qualify for Title 20 are then eligible to apply for a Lighthouse Program Scholarship where they can submit the amount they feel they can afford for the program.
- You can download the Parent Handbook here.
* The actual cost of the camp is $500/child
Please note that across all Lighthouse programming, spots are reserved first for children who live inside the Lighthouse neighborhood (within 10 blocks of the Lighthouse). If spots remain open or unfilled, the Lighthouse will open spots up to to students and families who live outside of that 10-block radius. A more complete explanation of how this works will be emailed to you once your child is registered or you can reach out to Tasha McClain via the contact info given below with any question you may have.

June 1, 2024 Deadline
- Camp registration fees are due by June 1. If the camp fee is not fully paid by this date, your child will, unfortunately, lose their spot and any money you have paid, will be refunded and the next child on the waiting list will be admitted.
- All registrations are non-refundable after June 1. After this point we are too far in the process of putting together staff, class sizes and paying for services.
