Music continues to be a powerful way for our students to explore their creativity and potential. This fall, in an effort to expose even more children to the beauty of music making, we restructured our strings program; moving Intro to Strings from Saturdays into our After-School Program for our 1st-3rd graders. (Our intermediate and advanced Cultivate classes remain on Saturdays). This year-long enrichment opportunity allows students to experience the joy of learning an instrument in a supportive, hands-on environment.
Students begin by learning the basics—how to hold their instrument, read music, and play together as a group. Over time, they discover that growth comes through practice, patience, and persistence. What starts as curiosity often becomes commitment as students begin to see what they’re capable of.
We’re excited to share that four of our students who first picked up their instruments through Lighthouse programming are now members of the Canton Youth Symphony. Their progress reflects what can happen when students are given the tools and encouragement to develop their gifts.
The Lighthouse Strings Program is more than a music class. It’s an opportunity for students to build confidence, take ownership of a new skill, and find their voice. Each note played is a step forward—not only in musicianship, but in personal growth.
Thank you! Your continued support helps make this kind of discovery and growth possible.
