Bethel University is meeting the needs of communities and students

through education that is affordable, local, practical, and fully accredited. This extension site is in partnership with Lighthouse Ministries on the Southeast side of Canton, OH. Those seeking a degree will benefit from Bethel University’s strong academics while being immersed in the city of Canton. Students will receive practical experience in a learning environment that promotes community and spiritual growth.



Students will benefit from ministry and business apprenticeships through BU Canton. Up to 3 credit hours per semester will be given for practicum experience.  For those majors without practicums, we will work with you to find internships. These placements amount to 8-10 hours weekly of firsthand leadership, ministry, and workplace experience.


Bethel University offers discounted tuition to students at extension sites, allowing BU Canton to offer tuition at a much lower cost. You can earn 30 credit hours for a full year at the cost of $10,000.

*For those eligible for the Pell Grant, the out-of-pocket cost is substantially reduced.


This program allows students to be a part of the Canton community as well as feel supported by local leaders and instructors.

BU Canton combines the strengths of a traditional 4-year college experience with a distance-learning community that is much more than e-learning.


This program partners with Bethel University, which is a fully accredited institution authorized to award associate, bachelor, and master’s degrees. Students of BU Canton can work towards two-year associate degrees and four-year bachelor degrees available from Bethel University.


BU Canton thrives through the traditional on-campus model of cohorts. This approach will allow 10-15 students to approach their educational journey together in classes, study, and spiritual development.


Students will receive education from a college with strong Christian roots, partnered with the anabaptist theology of Lighthouse Ministries in Canton. The spiritual growth of each individual is vital to our learning environment and will be nurtured through weekly spiritual formation activities.

The Associate of Arts in General Studies provides a liberal arts general education curriculum that is Christ-centered. With a range of studies from communications skills, humanities, diversity and global awareness, social science, natural science and math, Bible and religion, students will attain most of the general studies requirements of a four-year degree. In addition, students can customize their degree to develop their known interests while exploring new subject areas.
The degree is designed to offer a more robust general studies core to traditional-aged students while providing them with a cognate of Christian ministries-related courses and a series of church-based supervised ministry practicums. The goal of the degree is to foster students’ ability to think deeply and Christianly and to minister and communicate well in an increasingly diverse American context. As students engage in coursework, they will also experience deeper personal spiritual growth that will enable them to provide Christ-centered leadership to meet a variety of needs.
The Bachelor of Arts in Christian Leadership is designed for students who may want to have a career in a church or Christian organization and want to enhance their knowledge of theological studies in order to become more effective leaders. Courses range from biblical interpretation to the Christian world mission to discipleship.
A Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree can prepare you with the practical skills to help you succeed in business and finance careers. Courses include training in areas including accounting, business law, business communication, marketing, human resources and more.
The Bachelor of Arts in Business Marketing is ideal for students with a desire to gain knowledge and skills to be effective communicators. The comprehensive curriculum features core business topics and specialized marketing coursework, including classes on social media and the latest industry approaches.
With a growing need for trained technology professionals, a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity is structured so that students gain necessary skills for working in financial, educational, corporate and government settings. Challenging curriculum covers key topics in computer systems, cyberlaw, policy creation and compliance; it combines industry best practices with real-world application.
The Bachelor of Science in Behavioral and Social Science degree is designed for individuals currently employed in the field, to aid in employment advancement for those interested in careers in counseling, social work, human services, and case management. A comprehensive core curriculum is supplemented your choice of courses in the areas of mental health, marriage and family, addictions, and criminal justice.
