The Lighthouse thrives because of its many dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in making a difference in the lives of children, please review our listing of volunteer opportunities and contact us with your interest. As a volunteer you will be required to fill out paperwork, which inclues a background check, prior to starting at the Lighthouse.

After-School Program

The Lighthouse after-school program has several opportunities for volunteers to empower our students during either the academic and/or enrichment times each day. We are intentional about building consistency into our program as it brings stability for the children. With this in mind we prefer that voltuneers commit to coming in on the same day each week and we will place you with the same group of students each time you come. The after-school program runs for 28 weeks, from Monday through Thursday, mid September through mid April.

Listed below are the opportunities for volunteering in the after-school program.

During the academic portion of the program, you will work with students one-on-one or in small groups. Each day our students spend their time working first on homework, then moving to either reading exercies, online software, or math games as directed by the lead staff. and then Our staff will provide you with the course-related content. During homework time, you will work with one or two students offering the support they need to get their homework assignment completed. Those helping students on the computer will assist the students as needed.

The Lighthouse offers enrichment classes for its students each day, Monday through Thursday, from 4:45-5:30. We are intentional about finding enrichment opportunities for our students which help them discover their God-given giftedness and potential for impacting the world around them. We regularly offer the following enrichment offerings but are always looking for new experiences for our students. Please contact Darin if you are interested in leading enrichment activities/classes.
